Structure of the Commission

At the international level :

The organs of the Commission are the following:
(a) General Assembly
(b) Executive Committee
(c) Scientific Board
(d) Secretarial General

The General Assembly of the Commission comprises representatives of the member Governments. Each member has one vote. Associate members are admitted to the General Assembly, but they have no vote.

The 2006 General Assembly elected Madagascar to the Presidency with Spain and France as vice-presidents. The delegates of these three States form the executive Committee. Patrick Dysseler was appointed General Reporter of the scientific Committee and François-Henri Bolnot Deputy General Reporter.

The Executive Committee and Scientific Board are elected for 4 years at the annual General Assembly.

At the national level, the government designs its delegate who may be assisted by an alternate, together with assistants and advisers as required to pass propositions onto the Commission. For that matter, the delegate takes the initiative to set up the most appropriated structures of dialogue.

The Secretary General :
- directs the Secretariat of the Commission,
- ensures the execution of the programme approved by the General Assembly and of the tasks assigned to him by the Executive Committee,
- presents to the General Assembly a report on the Commission’s activity and financial situation, together with a report on the situation of the agricultural and food industries of the I.C.A.I. member countries.
